Who operates it

Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, California 94043, United States. For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the responsible Google entity is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Why Budget Clan uses it

This is the one service the app cannot run without. Google Sign-In identifies you, and Google Drive and Google Sheets are Budget Clan's only data store. Every expense, budget, account, transaction, subscription, receipt, asset and setting is written to Sheets files created in your own Google Drive.

The app asks for three permissions at sign-in:

spreadsheets: read and write the data inside your Budget Clan sheets;
drive.file: create and open only the files the app itself created;
drive.metadata.readonly: list file names so you can pick a sheet someone has shared with you.

What data reaches them

All of your financial records, but stored under your own account, not ours. Budget Clan keeps no copy on any server it operates; the app on your device or browser talks straight to Google's APIs on your behalf. Google also receives the sign-in information any Google service receives (your account identity, and technical request data such as IP address).

Where that data lives

In your own Google Drive, on Google's global infrastructure. The storage region is determined by your Google account, not by Budget Clan. A personal Google account stores data across Google's global data-centre network; Google Workspace accounts may have an administrator-set data region. Budget Clan has no ability to pin, move, or read the storage location of your files.
